Detailed Itinerary

In a 4/5 hour tour we usually visit the following:

Recoleta

  • Recoleta Cemetery: The city’s first public cemetery is nowadays the most elegant and aristocratic. In its almost six hectares national heroes, presidents, politicians, military, scientists, artists, and celebrities are buried in spectacular crypts and mausoleums.
  • Intendente Alvear Square (know as Plaza Francia) home of one of the most important artisan fairs on the weekends.
  • La Biela Coffee Shop
  • Iglesia del Pilar (Church)
  • The colorful Bridge on Figueroa Alcorta Avenue from where we can appreciate the Floralis Generica and the Law University
  • El Ateneo Grand Splendid (Considered the second most beautiful bookstore in the world)
  • La vereda del Tango: The 8 basic steps of Tango drawn in a sidewalk.

Then we take the subway and we head to:

  • Plaza de Mayo Square: The oldest square in Buenos Aires. It’s location was determined in the 2nd foundation of the city, in 1580. It’s surrounded by historical and governmental buildings, such as the Cabildo, the Casa Rosada (National Government seat,) the Palace of the Government of Buenos Aires, banks and ministries.
  • The Obelisk: The famous and recognizable “Obelisco” is a Buenos Aires trademark that reminds us of the highlights in the city’s history.
  • Tortoni Coffee Shop: The oldest café in the city. The marble and wooden tables, the old pictures on its walls, the traditional menu, the waiters, and the customers turned it into the archetype of the bar in Buenos Aires . The coffee shop environment is lovable, but there’s nothing quite like its specialty: “Chocolate espeso caliente con churros”, it’s a dense and hot chocolate that comes with a typical pastry. It’s simply delicious!  We can stop  here to drink a coffee or chocolate.

3 hours elapsed. Then we have:

  • Caminito ( La Boca ): Covered with paintings and sculptures, Caminito street is one of travelers and “porteños” favorite. It’s surrounded by typical houses from La Boca, with walls painted in different bright colors. In 1959 Caminito was officially inaugurated as an opened sky museum.
  • Plaza Dorrego Square (San Telmo): The heart of the old neighbourhood of San Telmo, at the south of the city. Around the square many big houses from the 19th Century were recycled and changed into cafes, antique shops (especially on Defensa street) or first-class restaurants

With a 6 or 7 hours tour you can visit other neighborhoods and have an even more complete sight of the city, including Palermo, the green lung of the city and Puerto Madero, the youngest and most exclusive area of Buenos Aires.
